Description
This stool is out of the Ashanti school of Ghana, West Aftica. It came from a fine estate in Boston that collectedfrom around the world. It dates to early 1900's. In the Ashanti tradition stools or diviner bench
were considered to inhabit the owners soul. They are sacred objects. Given to Chiefs, as well as brides
and girls coming into age, these hand carved stools are much honored. They are carved out of one piece
of wood. They are passed down and venerated.
